Sony STARVIS 2
Improved low-light performance (especially with HDR)
STARVIS 2 offers significantly improved performance in low light, especially with high dynamic range (HDR). It has been specially optimised for backlit situations and night scenes with high contrast.
Higher dynamic range (High Dynamic Range)
STARVIS 2 achieves up to 88 dB real dynamic range (Single Exposure) according to Sony - that&039;s more than the original STARVIS. This helps to better display details in dark AND bright areas at the same time - without ‘burning out’ or ‘drowning out’ the image areas.
Uniform brightness across the image field
STARVIS 2 reduces the so-called vignetting effect (edge darkening) that can occur with BSI sensors. This means a more even image brightness, even in poorly lit conditions.
Better colour reproduction in low light
STARVIS 2 offers a more natural colour reproduction at night - colours appear less washed out or monochromatic. Particularly relevant for forensic applications (e.g. clothing, vehicles, skin tones).
